The Royal Decree – July 2017

From the Royal Brains to the Royal Mouths of The Crown Princes (and then to this web page)

Game of Thrones is back.

Dragonstone, the premiere episode of Season 7 of HBO’s Game of Thrones has the highest viewing figures in HBO history, besting the previous viewership King, itself, by over a million viewers during the initial broadcast.

10.1 million viewers watched the Season 7 premiere live, topping The Winds of Winter’s 8.89 million viewers in June of last year. The overnight total for Dragonstone was 16.1 million viewers, which is an absolutely unheard of figure for original episodic television in 2017.

HBO must truly hate letting this program end as it is more popular than The Sopranoes, True Blood, Westworld, or any other original television program it has ever aired.

These viewing figures also explain why the final six episodes won’t air until 2019. Until there is an heir apparent, HBO executives will be very worried that this legion of viewers will disappear and not watch Westworld.

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss seem to have officially lapped George R. R. Martin. They already have their next HBO series planned. Confederate will imagine an alternate timeline in which slavery is still an American institution. Lincoln must have really fucked up.
I am already reading complaints about the premise of this program and I blame the 13th Doctor for these complaints.

But now the most important question is- will The Winds of Winter be published before season 6… of Confederate.

CMON Limited, a tabletop game manufacturer, has teamed with Dark Sword Miniatures to create ASoIaF miniature table top game… except they need more help creating it and have turned to a Kickstarter. Sounds great but I don’t think I will have any time to play this.

I personally don’t understand any of the anger at Ed Sheeran’s cameo in Dragonstone. He seems like a nice guy with a heavenly voice. No matter who was singing that song, that scene would still have been a head-scratcher.

Okay, so this company made some Game of Thrones themed pens… House Stark, House Lannister and some other Houses. Not a big deal. But now, Montegrappa is releasing an Iron Throne themed pen. Wow.

Euron Greyjoy actor Pilou Asbaek is Danish… and the new Royal favorite actor.

Winter Is Here is the new white ale from Ommegang.

The 2018 ASoIaF calendar will be released soon. It looks real nice. However, it will be a cold and frosty day in the Seven Hells before I purchase a calendar with ASoIaF artwork.

I used to buy all of these calendars. They looked beautiful and highlighted minor and major characters. But I can’t justify paying for anything having to do with ASoIaF until there is a book published. Nice try, #GRRM.

That’s about it for the Royal news collected from across the Realm…
